My Knight in Shinning Armour: Chapter 13

Chapter 13
Caught
I gallop through the woods on Midnight. I am just guessing what direction to go. I keep going without stopping. I Feel terrible about the things I said. I feel guilty every moment. Out of nowhere I hear another horse.
“Woah.” I say to Midnight. She comes to a stop quickly. The first thing that pops into my head, is that Eddie is looking for me. I call out but I hear no response. The horse I hear stops. I try to hear footsteps but I can’t hear anything. Before I can react, I am pulled off the horse from behind. I turn quickly hoping to see Eddie.
“Hello Beatrice.” The king says.
“How did you find me!?” I ask.
“Your friend Samson sent me a letter.” He smirks. “Did you really think you could escape from me?” he laughs. I try to pull away but he tightens his grip.
“What do you want from me?” I say as I begin to cry.
“You are my only Heir.” He smiles. “I have to retire from being king soon. The only way I can keep ruling Is you. Now we can do this the easy way or the hard way.” He motions to the horse.
“Are we riding back to the castle? That’s like a seven day ride!”
“No. We are staying at a friend’s house.” I snicker.
“You have friends?”
“Shut up!”  The king looks at his horse. “Get on.” I don’t want to upset him any more than I already have out of fear. I hastily get on the horse. He gets on behind me and whips the horse.  We ride for about an hour until we come upon a beautiful house. From the outside this house looks luxurious. It has been built with brown bricks and has blue stone decorations. Tall, rectangular windows brighten up the house. The king gets off the horse. He offers me  hand, but I jump off the horse by myself. We walk up to the door and The king knocks. The door opens revealing a man. The man has brown greasy hair that awkwardly hangs over his face. His skin tone is  tanned revealing he works in the sun. Green eyes sparkle upon the sight of us.
“His Majesty the king! How wonderful to see you again!” His eyes land on me.
“Why hello there m’lady.” He says respectfully.
“Hello Lance!” The king says. “I was wondering if you would be willing to let my daughter and I stay here for a couple days?”
“Of course!” Lance says happily.

Later that night the king is in his room sleeping. I sit on the bed in my room. I cry.
“I can’t do this!” I ball.
“Are you okay?” Lance comes into the room and sits next to me.
“Oh, yes.” I say wiping my tears away.
“People don’t usually cry when they are ok.” He says. I laugh at that.
“It’s something I can’t tell you.” I look at him. “Though I want to.
“And why is it you can not tell me?” He asks. He has a gentle voice.
“You think highly of the king right?” I ask. Lance nods confused.
“Yes. What is going on?” Lance's Face tells me he really cares.  I sigh. Something makes me want to tell him. So I do. I tell him what the king is really doing. Lance sits in silence while I explain.
“And I had a close friend who I pushed away. I was trying to find him.” I say quietly.
“We have to get you out of here than!” Lance exclaims.
“He will just find me again! I am nothing compared to him!” I cry.
“That is why I will go with you.” Lance stands up. He offers me his hand. “Are you in?” I take a moment to consider. I reach up and grab his hand.
“I’m in!”

We quickly pack some necessities. When we think we have everything we need, we rush out the door. Lance puts the saddle bag on the kings horse.
“We are taking the king's horse!?” I exclaim surprised.
“Of course!” Lance smiles. “His horses are better than mine!” We quickly get on the horse. At first we walk slowly trying not to make a lot of noise, but once we get farther away we begin to gallop.
“Thank you Lance.” I say sincerely.
“I just can’t believe the king would do that to you.” He says comforting me.
“Neither can I.” I say.
